Your questions, your memory
Last updated 12 October 2026
In one minute
- You can search without an account. We don’t keep a record of who asked what.
- To answer you, only your question is sent to Brave Search and to an AI model through OpenRouter. Never your name or email.
- If you sign in, we keep your email, your name and the things you choose to keep, so your memory follows you to any phone.
- We never sell, share, read or train AI on your memory. No ads, ever.
- Pictures in answers load straight from Wikipedia or Brave’s image servers. Turn on Data saver to load them only when you tap.
- A Deep Answer is kept in your account so you can open it again. Sapere’s own servers read the public web pages it cites; those websites never see who you are.
- You can delete everything yourself, any time: My Mind → Delete my memory.
1Who we are
Sapere (sapereengine.com) is a search and learning service. “We” means the people who run Sapere. You can reach us at hello@sapereengine.com.
2When you ask a question
- Your question is sent to Brave Search to find web pages (safe search is always on), and to an AI model through OpenRouter, which writes the answer from those pages. If Brave finds nothing, OpenRouter’s own web search may be used instead.
- They receive the text of the question only, not your name, email or account.
- To make repeated questions fast, an answer may be stored for up to 7 days, matched to the question’s words. That copy is not linked to you.
- Your internet address (IP) is held for about one minute to stop abuse, such as too many questions too fast. We don’t store it.
Deep Answer
- A Deep Answer needs an account. Your question goes to Brave Search (as many short searches), to Wikipedia, and to the AI model through OpenRouter, never with your name or email.
- To read the web pages it found, Sapere’s server opens them itself, as “SapereEngine”. The websites see Sapere’s server, not you.
- We keep the finished report (and, while it is being made, its working notes) in your account until you forget it or delete your memory. Only you can open it.
- To get better for everyone, Sapere learns numbers only: how often each website’s facts were confirmed by other independent websites, and which kinds of search found the sources that ended up in reports. These numbers are about websites and searches, never about you, and contain nothing anyone asked.
3When you sign in
You only need to sign in when you first press Keep this. There are no passwords.
- With Google: Google tells us your email address, your name, a link to your profile picture and a Google account number. We never see your Google password.
- With an email code: we send a 6-digit code to your email through Resend. We store only a scrambled (hashed) copy of the code, for 10 minutes.
- Once you’re in, your phone holds a sign-in key that lasts up to 180 days. We store only a scrambled copy of it.
4Your memory (My Mind)
When you press Keep this, we store the question, both answers (plain and technical), the sources, the subject, the picture link, its short check questions with their key points, and your progress.
Your progress is a list of numbers: when each check happened, whether you had it or not yet, how many key points you ticked, and how likely Sapere predicted you were to remember it. Sapere uses them to choose the best day for the next check, and to measure honestly whether it really helps people remember.
If you choose to set them, we also store your daily reminder moment and time, your exam date and subjects, and your time zone, so “today” means your today.
- What you type during a daily check stays on your phone. It isn’t sent to us.
- Only you can see your memory when you’re signed in.
- The people who run Sapere see totals only (how many people, questions and checks, and whether Sapere’s predictions come true), never what anyone asked or kept.
- We never sell it, share it, read it, or use it to train AI. We don’t use it for ads, because there are no ads.
5What stays on your phone
Sapere uses your browser’s storage for small things: light or dark theme, Plain or Technical, your last few searches, your sign-in key, Data saver, and a copy of today’s checks and of answers you opened recently, so they work without a connection. Checks you do offline wait on your phone until you are back online. Clearing this site’s data removes them. Sapere has no advertising or tracking cookies.
6Services we use
Each one gets only what it needs to do its job:
- Cloudflare hosts Sapere and its database.
- Brave Search finds web pages for your question.
- OpenRouter and the AI model providers it connects to write the answers.
- Google handles “Continue with Google” and provides the fonts. Loading them means Google can see your internet address.
- Resend delivers sign-in codes to your email.
- Wikipedia (Wikimedia) and Brave provide the pictures in answers. Your phone loads them directly, so they can see your internet address, like any website.
- The websites a Deep Answer cites are read by Sapere’s server. They see Sapere, not you, until you tap a source yourself.
- Paystack handles payments for Sapere Pro and Deep Answer packs, when you choose to pay. We never see your card number or Mobile Money PIN.
- Google Calendar or your phone’s calendar holds your daily reminder, only if you choose to add it there.
These services handle data under their own privacy policies. We pass on your question or email only, never your memory.
7Your choices
- Forget this removes one kept answer.
- Deleting your memory also deletes your Deep Answers.
- Sign out ends the sign-in on that phone.
- Delete my memory (in My Mind) deletes your account, everything you kept, your progress and your sign-ins, straight away.
- You can email us to ask what we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted.
Our database provider may keep a backup copy for up to 30 days before it disappears for good. We never restore deleted memory unless you ask.
8How long we keep things
- Your account and memory: until you delete them.
- Sign-in codes: 10 minutes. Sign-in keys: up to 180 days.
- Stored answers (not linked to anyone): up to 7 days.
- Deep Answers: until you delete your memory.
- Website trust and search-style numbers (not linked to anyone): as long as Sapere runs.
9When we might have to share
Only if the law truly requires it, for example a valid court order. If we’re allowed to, we will tell you first.
10Children
Sapere isn’t meant for children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has signed in, email us and we’ll delete the account.
11Changes
If this page changes, we’ll update the date at the top. For big changes, we’ll tell you inside Sapere before they take effect.
